Ring Hearth Furnace
Heat treatment process for case hardening with hardening press

The Aichelin ring hearth furnaces are specifically designed for applications in which carburizing and subsequent press hardening are carried out in a single heat treatment step (direct hardening). Integrating the process steps reduces heat treatment costs (energy, labor, and logistics costs).

Additional technical features

  • Integrated three-ram hardening press for precise shape and hardness results

  • Simple drive technology with reduced motor requirements

  • Effective zone separation without intermediate doors

  • Full integration of the hardening press into the control concept

Questions & Answers
FAQ – Aichelin Ring Hearth Furnace Systems
An Aichelin ring hearth furnace system for press hardening is a combined heat treatment system that integrates carburizing and press hardening into a single heat treatment process (direct hardening).
The system eliminates reheating, reduces energy consumption, and delivers more precise hardening results.
Aichelin ring hearth furnace systems use gas and/or electric heating systems. The atmosphere control is precisely matched to the process using endogas or nitrogen/methanol with additional gases. All protective atmosphere systems are equipped with a nitrogen safety system.
In the Aichelin ring hearth furnace system, the three-ram hardening press is fully integrated into the control and automation system, enabling reproducible press hardening results.
The system is primarily used to treat gears and other transmission components made of typical case-hardening steels.
Integration of FOCOS 4.0 enables central process monitoring, batch traceability, fault diagnostics, and complete data recording for quality assurance and energy analysis.
The system offers reduced operating costs, lower maintenance effort, a compact layout, and an energy-efficient, process-stable overall system.
With our many years of expertise in heat treatment, we ensure optimal communication between our customers and the press manufacturers.
